HiiL Innovating Justice, a subsidiary of Hiil- an advisory and research institute for the justice sector has collaborated with the Ford Foundation to launch the SME Empowerment Innovation Boot camp in Lagos on October 29, 2015 at the Co-Creation Hub, Yaba Lagos State.
Earlier this year, an innovation challenge called SME Empowerment Innovation Challenge was kickstarted to address bureaucratic and regulatory barriers hindering the growth of SMEs in Africa by supporting startups with disruptive ideas focused on justice. Accepting entries from over a hundred applicants, only six contenders from East and West Africa made it to the Finals. Nigeria’s duo, BudgIT (Oluseun Onigbinde) and DIYlaw.ng (Odunoluwa Longe) compete with others from Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, and Kenya.
The SME Empowerment Innovation Challenge Boot camp will feature these six contenders from the SME Empowerment Innovation Challenge and at the end of the day, the 3 best innovations selected by a jury will receive further acceleration support and stand to gain $70,000.
Participants in this boot camp should get ready for an array of fascinating programs such as panel discussions, interactive working sessions, investment opportunities amongst others.
