Applications are now open for the Kenyan leg of the Seedstars World – a global startups competition, which will see one company selected to pitch at the global final in Switzerland for the chance to win US$1 million in equity investment.

With winners already selected from a number of African countries like Egypt, Tunisia, South Africa, Mozambique, Angola,Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali and Ethiopia; the Nairobi leg of the competition which is supported by CfC Stanbic Bank, will take place on October 7th.

Talking about what he expects of the Kenyan participants, Selam Kebede – Associate for Africa at Seedstars World said: “Kenya has shown impressive development in the startup and tech entrepreneurship ecosystem, not just within the country but also for Africa. We are looking forward to seeing what the young innovators have got in stock for us and cannot wait to meet them all in person.”


Startups selected to pitch at the Seedstars Nairobi event must:

  • be less than two years old
  • have raised less than US$500,000 in funding
  • have built a minimum viable product, ideally with existing traction
