ENTERPRISE54 – Vacancy currently exists for the position of ‘Entrepreneurship Manager’ at Nairobi-based CAP -Youth Empowerment Institute. The non-profit organization is supported by the MasterCard Foundation and designs models to help vulnerable youth develop labor market oriented employability skills.
CAP-YEI helps them access placements so that they are easily assimilated into the competitive job market, make informed choices for their self-directed growth and positive citizenship. It also helps access higher education and qualification, thrift and savings, peer networking and enterprise development support.
Amongst others things, the duties and responsibilities of the Entrepreneurship Manager would include the following.
i. Reviewing and supporting the implementation of Entrepreneurship and financial literacy curriculum.
ii. Ensuring efficient delivery of entrepreneurship module.
iii. Coaching and mentoring young entrepreneurs.
iv. Conduct training need assessments, identify areas that require strengthening, develop a capacity building strategy, and assist in its implementation to address the identified gaps.
v. Network with financial institutions to assist youth obtain funding for their businesses.
vi. Assessing the business plans prepared by the youth and recommending necessary changes that make the business plans competitive.
vii. Help youth establish growth oriented business and micro franchises.
viii. Monitoring the delivery of Entrepreneurship Training.
ix. Monitor the training of youth in the implementation of group savings, loans and business development skills.
x. Monitoring and reviewing the progress of youth.
xi. Facilitate market linkages and business networks for the micro and small enterprises.
xii. Organizing entrepreneurship events in liaison with center coordinators, Centre coordinators and regional coordinators
xiii. Help youth access credit facilities from credible financial institutions e.g. banks, MFIs.
xiv. Mobilizing and supporting the youths to form groups, start businesses and link them to financial institutions.
xv. Monitoring the entrepreneurship activities across all centers.
xvi. Working with facilitators to support trainees to set up Enterprises.
- Document best practices of financial literacy and entrepreneurship to help in developing and improving the existing material on financial literacy.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to bring financial literacy initiatives into the program.
Applicants are expected to be, of course, computer savvy, excellent communicators, possess a graduate degree in Entrepreneurship or Education or rated fields with about three years of working in an entrepreneurial environment. People with working experience with a financial institution are particularly encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate should possess basic financial management skills, resourcefulness, strategic thinking and ability to forge partnerships.
