Nigeria’s foremost and indigenous information technology and communications (ICT) company, Zinox Technologies has secured a $25m Technology Research and Innovation loan from European Technology Fund to build 3 digital hubs across major cities in the country.

Chairman of Zinox Group, Leo Stan Ekeh made this disclosure when the acting Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr. Vincent Olatunji, led a team of the agency on official working visit to the Zinox headquarters in Gbagada, Lagos recently. According to Mr Stan Ekeh, construction works for the digital hubs are already underway in Port Harcourt and the other digital hub located in Abuja which is nearing completion, would become active by early 2017.

“The Nigerian economy is in dire need of an alternative to crude oil, which the ICT sector can effortlessly play in boosting the nation’s economy,” Stan Ekeh, the Chairman of Zinox Group, adding that “Nigeria has millions of young digitally-minded population who have the potentials to become billionaires in dollars.”

The idea of the digital hubs is to create employment and a platform for digitally-minded youths to develop their skills and for the ICT sector to contribute to Nigeria’s GDP.
