AFIF Entrepreneurship Award: Nigerian Business, FASMICRO amongst Finalists

Last year, we reported the commencement of application  for the  Africa Finance and Investment Forum (AFIF) entrepreneurship award, an annual business event organized in the framework of EMRC International, aimed at strengthening the private sector in Africa, encouraging entrepreneurship and attracting investment to the African continent.

The initiative which received a total of 51 applications around the continent has concluded it first round of weeding with only six businesses emerging as finalists based on social, economic and ecological impact, and their potential for growth and job creation.

We look forward to welcoming these and many more entrepreneurs at the AFIF 2017 in Nairobi” says  Ines Bastos, EMRC Senior Project Manager.

Nigeria’s First Atlantic Semiconductors and Microelectronics (FASMICRO), R n G Company Ltd (Kenya), EuroFresh Exotics(Kenya), Kimolo Super rice (Tanzania), Eco Act (Tanzania) and Aybar Engineering (Ethiopia) have all made it to the final stage which commences on the 13th February, 2017 in Nairobi Kenya, where the eventual winner gets a $10,000 cash prize, one year of media promotion and support within and outside Africa .

FASMICRO, a Nigerian business with a focus to use emerging technology diffusion to create the next future in Nigeria and Africa, has created Zenvus, an intelligent solution to collect soil data using a system of electronic sensors. Its mission is improve farming productivity.
