ENTERPRISE54 – World’s largest social media network Facebook, is organizing its first ever Creative Workshop for youths in Africa. The event which is part of the annual Leories Creative Week is a yearly celebration of creativity, innovation and culture, holds from the 13th to 21st September 2014 in Cape Town South Africa.

While Facebook over the years has proven itself as a major tool that serves as a medium or interface between brands and consumers, Africa’s creative industry is emerging and most major brands are increasingly seeking ways of maximizing growth by tapping into it. Hence the workshop would be of immense benefit and opportunity for young people to help them to excel in brand communications.

The event is tailored specifically for young creative designers with less than two years of experience. The Menlo Park-based social media giant plans to showcase various works at the workshop including award winning projects as well as latest trends.

Around 50% of South Africans aged between 15 and 24 are unemployed – the third highest unemployment rate in young people according to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Risk 2014 report. Sadly, the older the unemployed youth get, without finding employment, the less likely they are to find jobs, and creative industries are seen as key to opening new jobs for South Africa’s youth hence the need for the workshop being organized by Facebook to train and empower them.
