Sometimes last week, Betty Irabor, CEO of Popular lifestyle magazine, Genevieve Magazine, took to her Instagram page to announce that it’s been 14 years since the first edition of the magazine hit the streets. Yes! we almost couldn’t believe it too, how time flies! The anniversary party held on Sunday 12 February with friends, family and well-wishers rejoicing with the media mogul.

Many who have been following the entrepreneurship scene in Nigeria, especially the Media and Publishing space, will know Aunty Betty as a trailblazer, and a source of inspiration for many aspiring mediapreneurs. Her Instagram page is a business and motivation school on its own with its periodic updates on #LifelessonswithbettyIrabor, where she gets to share experiences and advice with young minds.

14 years down the line, as is expected of every business, Betty Irabor’s story with Genevieve has not been all rosy, in fact she had once decided never to publish the magazine again.

The Genevieve Magazine story with a Betty Irabor is one that reaffirms that resilience and focus are core ingredients for the tasty meal of success in entrepreneurship. Not many can survive a 3 million Naira fraud in business, Betty Irabor not only did, she made a success story out of it.

We say a big congratulations to a rare gem with a diadem. Aunty Betty, more milestone to come your way.
